New toys!

Published March 9, 2013 by Kokomo

After all the misery of visits to the vet (more on this later), meds, antibiotics, painkillers, ointments and having been taken out of the cage against their will, I decided it was time to properly decorate the cage of Valo and Maarit.

They had a decorated cage, but it was just lacking certain finishing touches. They had to make do with two mini-toilets, a half-broken silent spinner (which is now probably going back to Ruma :P), and only a make-do hammock.

My mother has been sowing a cube-hammock for me, and since Koko and Ruma’s cage was done last wednesday and was still filled with hammocks and other stuff, I decided to give the cube-hammock to Valo and Maarit too. I went shopping for a new Silent Spinner, a bigger toilet, new corbo since I had run out of that as well and some treats for all of them.

I collected all my courage (cleaning and decorating a cage is still a difficult task with my hand still recovering from surgery) and cleaned out the cage as fast as I could. I think I’ve set a new record, as it took me only 40 minutes to remove all the dirty towels, all the corbo and poop spread through the cage, clean the different levels and all the toys and other things in the cage and redecorate. Doing their cage is easier than the other one, as they are up high and I can reach everything way more easily. So now the ladies have a fully decorated cage, with a cube-hammock, two ordinary hammocks, a Sputnik, a Silent spinner, a big toilet, a green basket/house and lot’s of toys. The cage has somehow gotten a green/purple theme and I kind of like it 🙂

Unlike Koko and Ruma, Maarit and Valo went straight at discovering and sniffing the whole cage. Especially Valo was obviously enjoying running around (I think she was also missing all her hidden candy’s that I threw out 😛 ) and trying everything out. She tested the silent spinner, pooped in the new toilet and now both ladies are happily sleeping. Maarit in her Sputnik and Valo in a corner on the bottom. Because why would you sleep in comfy hammocks if you can sleep on the floor? 😉

I managed to snap some photo’s, so here we go:
